An Introduction To The Nerdy Theologian
Hello blogosphere! I felt it appropriate to introduce myself for those who are new, and to give some information on me that some people in my life might not even know. So let me start here…my name is Justin Eimers. I have been married for 6 years as of this October 20th. We have two pugs and currently at least no children…yet. I am a self-professed nerd (the name says it all) but not a stereotypical one. Don’t get me wrong I love Star Trek, Star Wars, comic books (mostly DC), and anything referring to superheroes…at all. While I am a superhero fan, I am a massive fan of Superman…yes…Superman the greatest superhero ever imagined and created. However Superman is not the greatest hero…that distinction is for only one person, a person that changed the course of my life, and gave me purpose from the young age of 14. As most of you are guessing by now (based on the blog’s name) it is Jesus of Nazareth. Christ came into my life and changed not only me, but my course in life. Both my call to ministry and my call to faith came at the same time and so my call to faith, and to action have always been tied one to the other. After attempting to go to school for something other than ministry (my own Jonah story that I’m sure I will end up telling at some point in time) I ended up at a Church of Christ Christian Liberal Arts College in Rochester Hills MI called Rochester College. There I met my wife, met one of my best friends and closest ministry confidants and attained a Bachelors of Science in Biblical Studies with a minor in Biblical Languages. After taking a year off of school I entered seminary at Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary and earned a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies. I currently attend Liberty University in pursuit of a Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Educational Leadership and then will be moving forward to an Doctorate of Education in the same specialization. Beside all that fancy stuff…I am a pretty regular nerd. I play video games (Assassin’s Creed Series, Call of Duty, among others), watch a ton of movies and enjoy the occasional cigar with a scotch.
Now that you know a little about me, let me explain how this blog is going to work and what my goal is in writing it. This blog will be filled with my thoughts regarding all the things I am passionate about…from theology, to comics, to movies, and even the occasional life story to share a little bit more about myself. My hope is that I can make you laugh, encourage you, and possibly even teach you something along the way. I however am not looking for this to be a one-sided endeavor. I appreciate comments, thoughts, and interaction as a whole as I am hoping to learn from you as well (I surely do not have it all figured out), thank you.
